Exploring Innovation and Design at KBIS: Highlights from KED Interiors' Visit
This March, KED Interiors had the opportunity to attend the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS), an event that always promises innovation and endless creative inspiration. Our experiences at KBIS not only bring fresh inspiration but also reinforced our commitment to excellence in design.
Here are some of the standout experiences and how they inform our approach to upcoming kitchen and bath projects, or new home construction.
Monogram: Redefining Luxury in Every Space
Monogram's booth was perhaps the most inspirational space at KBIS, illustrating the expansive capabilities of their state-of-the-art appliances. Their exhibit was an immersive experience, designed like a full-scale home tour that extended even to a customized Lexus SUV. This integration showcased how Monogram appliances aren't just meant for the kitchen; they redefine the concept of luxury living across the entire home and beyond, highlighting their adaptability and elegance in any setting. We had never seen a Lexus quite like this one!
The kitchen space exuded warmth and richness with its mix of textures—brushed gold refrigeration, deep wood cabinetry, and moody velvet drapery—creating an environment that felt curated yet livable. Custom lighting and bold design choices, like the graphic checkerboard table and floral accents, emphasized Monogram’s commitment to personal expression through design.
Just steps away, we discovered the wine room. Fully enveloped in a painterly floral wallcovering, the space was equal parts whimsical and refined. Integrated refrigeration and open bottle storage made the space feel like a boutique lounge, proving that Monogram appliances are just as much about experience as they are performance. It was a clear reminder that thoughtful design doesn’t stop in the kitchen—it flows through the entire home.
The SKS Kitchen was a highlight in every way, from design elements to functionality.
From Signature Kitchen Suite to SKS: A Rebrand Filled with Innovation
The rebranded SKS (formerly Signature Kitchen Suite) caught our attention along with so many of the KBIS attendees. They made visiting their booth fun and interactive. By offering cooking demonstrations and even yoga classes, they were able to prove the livability of their products. The highlight was their innovative convection countertop made from stone, featuring a seamless design without traditional burners.
A Fusion of Elegance and Functionality at House of Rohl
Our visit to the House of Rohl booth was another “wow” moment. House of Rohl is a collection of luxury plumbing brands known for their commitment to craftsmanship and timeless design. Their collaboration with Emtek and Schaub, two renowned leaders in decorative hardware, has opened new avenues for integrating elegance and functionality into every detail of interior design. We consider these pieces as jewelry for your home. These are part of the finishing touches that complete a home and can add so much personality.
One particularly memorable experience was the opportunity to create a custom hardware set, blending wood, marble, and metal. This hands-on experience showcased the bespoke possibilities these brands offer, allowing designers to tailor materials and finishes to meet specific aesthetic and functional demands of their projects. This approach not only enhances the design but also personalizes the space to reflect the unique tastes and needs of each homeowner.
Panel Insights in the Ferguson Luxury Lounge
Visiting the Ferguson Luxury Lounge was a fun and educational part of our days at KBIS. It was enlightening to hear from industry leaders who continually push the boundaries of design and functionality. We always love hearing from other designers point of view and leave inspired.
Attending KBIS was not just about viewing new products; it was about experiencing the future of home design firsthand and bringing back those innovative ideas and inspirations to our clients. We are excited to incorporate these fresh perspectives into our upcoming projects, especially considering unique approaches for features from the powder room sink, to custom-built kitchen elements.
