Two Days of Design Inspiration: Come with us to Design Chicago at The Merchandise Mart

Our team just spent two action-packed days at Design Chicago, and we left feeling more inspired than ever! The Merchandise Mart (aka The Mart) was buzzing with creativity, from cutting-edge design presentations to jaw-dropping showroom displays. It’s the Midwest’s largest residential design conference, and it did not disappoint! We dove into sessions on everything from how to blend classical design with modern trends to the latest 2025 color and material forecasts. (Spoiler alert: 2025 is going to be colorful!)

Design Chicago at The Merchandise Mart

This years highlights included a long list of panels, educational events and product launches that included industry experts from around the country. Our team spent two days exploring what felt like every inch of the Merchandise Mart. We are so fortunate to share a close collaboration with many esteemed partners at The Mart, such as Wolf Subzero, Holly Hunt, Waterworks, Stark Carpet and more but it is always a thrill to visit them during this annual event. Our team enjoyed seeing what was new and evolving in each and every showroom.

From an educational standpoint, our team decided to divide and conquer. Each of us, depending on our interest, education and job role, attended a large mix of educational panels and discussions. While Isabella enjoyed a deep dive on biophilic design and sustainability, Yvette learned about new patterns and materials choices in fireplace design. Overarching business and design strategy classes were attended by a mix of the entire team.

Of course, the team came together throughout the day to share highlights, tips and “can’t miss” moments they discovered throughout the day. We all enjoyed our team lunch at Marshall’s Landing, overlooking the beautiful Riverwalk of Chicago.

But the fun didn’t stop there. Our very own principal, Katie Wozniak, was on the host committee for the Design Soiree, so naturally, the whole KED Interiors crew was in on the action. The beach party-themed soirée was a blast—a perfect way to unwind after two days of soaking up design inspo. 🌊

This week, we are back in the design office, ready to take on new and existing projects with a renewed sense of inspiration.
